Napster is the name of both a file-sharing network and the Windows client
app that lets you connect to it. But the Napster client isn't the only one
available for the Napster protocol - more than two dozen alternatives exist.
Some are just a programming student's folly, but others add features or open
the network to platforms other than Windows. Alternative clients are also
available for other file-sharing systems (see Networks), including Gnutella,
MyNapster, OpenNap, and Scour Exchange.
